Bath VA Medical Center
Homemaker and Home Health Aide Program
Through the Homemaker and Home Health Aide Program, VA pays for homemaker and home health aide assistance for Veterans. The program supports Veterans living at home instead of being placed into a community living center or nursing home. The types of services provided include assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, help in using the toilet and getting in or out of bed or a wheelchair. Other services can include help with walking, exercises, using medical equipment, and health monitoring. In some cases, specific household tasks such as light housekeeping may be provided following personal care.
For Veterans participating in the Community Residential Care Program, VA nurses or social workers make regular home visits to Veterans living in an independent living setting. The living accommodations are paid by the Veteran and health care is provided by VA.
